Tacoma Laser Center
at Pro Active Spince Care
Tacoma Laser Therapy (TLC) is the Tacoma and South Puget Sound center for laser pain relief and laser photobiomodulation (PBM) therapy. We are perhaps the most experienced low-level laser therapy treatment center in the South Puget Sound area.
We are certified laser therapy providers, with extensive experience using of low level laser therapies for pain relief, injury care, accelerating tissue healing, and enhancing functional performance.
We utilize cutting edge hi-intensity low level laser therapy technology, including fully-robotic Class-IV MSL multi-lock lasers, with excellent patient responses. Our MLS lasers are the same laser units that have been used at Johns Hopkins. Our protocols help ensure the best patient outcomes.
MLS lasers (Multiwave Locked System) used at Proactive Spine Care are significantly different than other laser delivery systems: The MLS patented system combines and synchronizes a pulsed emission at 905 nm and a continuous emission at 808 nm wavelength. Treatment effects have been shown to be cumulative and lasting.
Cutting-edge light therapy revolutionizing pain relief and healing
Low level laser has been widely researched. Specic laser wavelengths have been shown to reduce pain, reduce inflammation, stimulate and speed tissue repair, and improve functional performance. Patients consistently report favorable treatment response and high satisfaction.
We have seen and managed patients with remarkable results using MLS laser therapy – even often tough to treat problems like chronic craniofacial pain and TMJ, peripheral neuropathy, post-surgical pain, and spinal radiculopathy (pinched or damages spinal nerves).
Sample research support for low level laser therapy in patient care
Low level laser (LLLT) is a key recommendation for back pain treatment. - American Academy of Family Physicians; 2017
Optimal LLLT can offer clinically relevant pain relief and initiate a more rapid course of improvement, both alone and in combination with other interventions. - Physiother Res Int; 2015
Low-level laser was the only modality with higher evidence supporting its use for all studied conditions (study of shoulder joint conditions). - Jour Manip Physio Therap; 2017
Laser therapy benefits recovery of nerve lesions especially when related to a faster regeneration and functional improvement. LLLT accelerates the process of nerve regeneration. - Bioengen: 2018
LLLT is effective for peripheral neuropathy. - Laser Ther; 2015
One of the most reproducible effects of PBM is an overall reduction in inflammation, which is particularly important for disorders of the joints, traumatic injuries, lung disorders, and in the brain - AIMS Biophys; 2017 |
Our history helping patients using laser therapy
We have been helping patients using laser therapy in musculoskeletal care for over 20 years. We were one of the first clinics in Washington to use laser therapy to help patients and enhance recovery of back pain, neck pain, whiplash injuries, shoulder pain and rotator cuff tear, carpal tunnel syndrome, disc herniations and nerve pressure, plantar fascitis, tendinitis, and many other difficult to manage problems.
Over the years, we have upgraded our lasers to keep up with technology, and refined our protocols and patient selection to help improve overall response to care.
Dr. McMillin has attended World Association of Laser Therapy research symposium training, and has attended lectures from Harvard’s lead PhD dedicated laser photobiomodulation therapy lab researcher, as well as lecture and training conducted by international low level laser therapy experts.
What to expect
Laser photobiomodulation therapy (aka low level laser or cold laser) uses photon light energy to stimulate tissue repair at the cellular level. Effects of properly applied laser treatment include pain relief and reduction of inflammation. Successful treatment requires consideration for proper laser wavelength, energy, and exposure dosage.
Hi-intensity low level laser therapy is painless to receive, and takes about 5-10 minutes per treatment session. A series of treatments may be recommended depending on the condition being addressed, and related factors.
